The outdoor area of Weerterland is characterized by a strong agricultural sector, a varied stream landscape and several forest areas. All of these interests are represented in our cooperation.
Together for a healthy outdoor area!
Our focus is on four themes that are current in the outdoor area.
Improve the natural quality of the area with focus on nitrogen reduction, water quality and quantity, healthy soil and climate.
Maintain and improve the livability of the outdoor area. Work towards a healthy living, working and recreational environment with space for nature education.
Contributing to a future and a revenue model for the agricultural sector in light of national (and European) laws and directives on nitrogen and water quality, among others, which have a major impact on this sector.
The innovative and driving force in exploring and realizing solutions around the challenges in the rural area.
As of 2018, PiO Weerterland has been involved in the implementation of 30+ projects with an investment budget of more than €17 million.
Residents, organizations, associations and entrepreneurs can submit eligible project ideas. These are projects that contribute to nature, recreation, culture and/or social connection. These subsidies are provided by LEADER Weerterland.
