Sustainable collaboration through joint exploration
Platteland in Development Weerterland is a collaborative organization in which the municipality of Nederweert, Weert, Leudal, Limburg Water Board, Province of Limburg, LLTB and Natuurmonumenten* join forces for the outlying area of Weerterland. The need for sustainable cooperation is growing and that is precisely why we are putting our shoulders to the wheel together. We connect people, interests and ideas, and start projects to realize our vision: together for a healthy outlying area in Weerterland!
Our projects start with a joint exploration. We sit down with all seven parties and receive a presentation of the project idea. We map out interests, ideas and opportunities and actively seek connections: can we enrich the project idea with tasks/interests from other parties? This will result in an integrally explored project that both meets the challenge and contributes to our shared ambition.

Maintain and improve the livability of the outdoor area. Work towards a healthy living, working and recreational environment with space for nature education.
Future for the agricultural sector
Contributing to a future and a revenue model for the agricultural sector in light of national (and European) laws and directives on nitrogen and water quality, among others, which have a major impact on this sector.
Entrepreneurial Power
The innovative and driving force in exploring and realizing solutions around the challenges in the rural area.
Weert, Nederweert and Leudal
The Weerterland region has a vast outdoor area interspersed with many small towns and a strong agricultural sector. On the northwest side the area borders North Brabant and National Park de Groote Peel and on the south side you cross the border to Belgium between the Laurabossen and the Uffelsebeek.

Residents, organizations, associations and entrepreneurs can submit eligible project ideas. These are projects that contribute to nature, recreation, culture and/or social connection. These subsidies are provided by LEADER Weerterland.
