Project 2

With the antidehydration measures in the 'Waterbloem' area, we wanted to restore the original wet source area of the Roggelse Beek. The area was naturally known for stagnant rainwater on clay layers and local groundwater runoff. By humidifying, we expected characteristic plants to return and the overgrown undergrowth to slowly disappear. In the design and management of the Waterbloem nature reserve we connected as much as possible to the remaining remnants of the Peel peat bog. This also created an ecological connection between these areas. At the same time we made sure that agricultural water was diverted and now stays longer in the area.
